Iconic Lana Turner looks

Classic clean lines, neat tailoring and cute tie-up details are the mainstay of her fabulous 1940s looks. Inspired by her iconic silhouette, I created this stylish lightweight blouse with a loose-fitting, airy feel that's cool to wear on warm, sunny days.

V-neckline and wide shoulder line detail, trimmed with decorative coconut shell buttons

A flattering V-neckline sits elegantly at the centre of this stylish blouse featuring a wide 1940s style shoulder line which falls softly over the shoulders to create dainty cap sleeves.

A button placket complete with unique coconut shell buttons leads to a tie up waist which can be tucked into bottoms for a cropped effect, or left loose as you wish.

The back of the shirt mimics a classic tailored blouse with a smart double layer yoke and delicate pleat detail as a nod to 1940s tailored looks. The curved back and front hems meet high at the side seams to fall comfortably over the hips, both for ease of movement and also to allow the shirt to be worn tucked in when tied at the front.

I was inspired by interesting fabric textures and colourful linen style fabrics when creating this design, which lend themselves perfectly to this relaxed silhouette.

The white Lana blouse is made from a really beautiful cotton fabric featuring a distinctive, cross-hatched texture that gives a similar appearance to linen. Its crisp, breathable cotton, decorative design and lightness to the touch brings a luxurious quality to this summer blouse.

The textured fabric is perfectly complemented by the striking natural buttons, individually carved from coconut shells and each featuring unique flecked patterns from the process. I love that no two are the same.

In addition, two other gorgeous pastel shades, lilac and mint green, were chosen for their summery hues and soft hand-feel. These blouses are instead made from a cotton chambray fabric, which features a much smoother weave but retains the same lightness and breathability that makes them so comfortable to wear.
