SUN, SAND AND STYLECAMP

Hello, I'm Lindsey, designer and maker behind Stylecamp.

Stylecamp is a blend of all my favourite things.  Travels to sunny destinations, elegant vintage style and a love for dressmaking.

'HOME' IS THE FRENCH RIVIERA

I'm hugely inspired by women's Riviera style from the 1920s to 1950s, and the history of  the glamorous lifestyle brought  to these destinations by famous visitors.

I aim to emulate the holiday spirit captured in vintage travel posters.  I want customers to feel as good as this in my clothes, whether they are travelling, or not.

MY TRUSTY SEWING MACHINE

It was my mum who first encouraged me to sew at home, lending me her original 1970s Frister-Rossmann sewing machine.

This machine is a real workhorse and I still use it today, handmaking all of my designs simply for the love of sewing.

PATTERN MAKING

Once I have my design, I hand draft the paper dress patterns and sew mock-up samples over and over again, tweaking the design until I achieve the right look.

Through all my designs I think of how my customer will wear it and what will be most practical.  For instance, I like to consider where a bra will sit or include jersey support linings for added comfort.

FABRIC CUTTING

Next I'll cut the final pattern pieces on the correct fabric and sew one last sample to ensure the fit.  I usually can't wait to wear it myself!

The work doesn't end there;  it's back to the paper dress patterns to grade the finished design into sizes XS-L, before photographing the style for the shop.

BENEFITS OF HANDMADE

Stylecamp's original design is an extension of my own style, inspired  by unique, personal experiences.

Being handmade means quality comes first.  I source beautiful fabrics and give care and  attention to the fit and finish of my designs, including any alterations.
